About Venus

Who am I? Wow! That could take a while to describe, as I find that I’m still in search of who I am in Christ. I’m still a work in progress I guess. Who I was in the world is a whole different Venus, so to make it short, here are a few highlights:

  • Christ Follower & Soul Saver – I’m on a mission with Jesus and loving every minute of it! If I can take you with me, I will!
  • Born and raised in NY – the Big Apple. Things about NY I like are the FOOD (the variety of options is incredible! The best Pizza I’ve tasted thus far. There are so many places that are beautiful, inexpensive and have delicious options), Museums (there’s a multitude of history and information to be explored), Theatre (this expression of life, talents and gifts is exciting and just plain FUN to watch) and Parks & Recreational Activities (Central Park, Battery Park, Prospect Park, Union Square, Bryant Park and others were places I’d go to hang out with friends and family – to Rollerskate, Rollerblade, Iceskate, Bike Ride, have picnics or just to have lunch.)
  • Entrepreneur – Corporate world is just not for me. I live outside of the box whenever possible.
  • Dreamer – I like to think BIG! Like Randy Pausch says “It’s better to fail spectacularly than to achieve mediocrity.”
  • Passion for Reading, Writing, Music and others’ Singing (Lord knows I can’t sing – even the water in the shower stands still- lol!).
  • Learning and Teaching is a way of life for me. I believe Education is continuous and never-ending. “If you’re not growing your mind, you’re shrinking it!” I also enjoy sharing whatever I know and can with people – in friendship, relationship, tips, in the form of classes, training, etc. I’m not too fond of people that think they’ve arrived – those all knowing attitudes. If they only knew…
  • Passion for Dance and Choreography – I especially enjoy dancing Salsa..ON 2!
  • Team player – Don’t need to be center stage. In fact, I’d be the one pushing others to take the spotlight. I enjoy networking and partnering with people for business, personal and philanthropic purposes. It’s rewarding in so many ways.
  • Cooking – I like to try new recipes and bringing samples to share. When I can, I tune into the Food Network. I also exchange recipes with friends and family.
  • Eating - Of course I like to eat! Are you kidding? It’s one of the precious gifts God has given us and I take full advantage of it. I like to try new things. I’ll try anything once!
  • Sports – Since I was a kid, I’ve had a passion for sports or some form of physical or athletic activity. I was a tomboy growing up. Don’t remember spending too much time with Barbie unless she was accompanied by a Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball or a Pool. There’s a burst of excitement and adrenaline you feel while watching a game on T.V.  but even moreso when it’s LIVE! The best part is playing though. I don’t mind breaking a nail or getting dirty to catch a football or going after a baseball flying down center field.
  • Camping & Water Activities- I was blessed to have the opportunity to go to YMCA sleepaway camps from the age of 10-16. It was there that I discovered my passion for the outdoors (mountain climbing, finding undiscovered trails, setting up tents and sleeping bags, oh and let’s not forget making REAL smores – mmmmm) and my passion for the water (Boating, Canoeing, Sailing, Wind-Surfing, Water-Skiing, Knee-boarding, and more). I learned so many life skills that I still use to this day (i.e. Leadership, Integrity, Importance of Team and Teamwork, Self-Awareness & Individuality, Goal-Setting, Conflict Resolution, Academic strengthening and achievement, Social and Emotional skills, Survival skills and much more). Those experiences helped shape who I am today. They helped me to explode out of the shell I was in.
  • Good Friend -  I love people - meeting new people and creating new friendships. For the most part, I’m a good listener, a two-way communicator and loyal friend. Unless of course, you catch me on a day that I’ve got a lot going on in my head and/or you just pissed me off – LOL! Just kidding – NOT! 8-)
  • Laid back, passive kind of person. Yet, I can be aggressive when necessary. 8-)

That pretty much sums me up – for now! Tune in to my future posts for more. ;-)
